Emergency drill in the river bed

Lots of practical today, both in the class room and in the field. The focus of the morning session was the exam.

I’m confident that I passed, well I hope so as I need the first aid certification to practice as a guide.

In the afternoon it was our emergency drill in the river bed. The scenario was a man down (Marnis, the biggest guy on the course), shot by a poacher.

We had to stabilise him in the field and then carry him back on the stretcher. Not easy given his size, the substrate and the heat. Plus there was a snake bite victim (Ben) thrown in for good measure.

Interesting to see how different people reacted and also how I reacted. However, the real proof of the pudding came when we watched the video back in the evening.
