Course information

A respected Safari Guide training course aimed at those wishing to experience a bush holiday, whilst also learning about the environment they are in. 28 days of living and learning in nature at a wilderness camps (Selati, Karongwe, Mashatu and Makuleke) will provide you with practical and theoretical knowledge of the natural environment. The course is also available at our wilderness camp in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya

Why do this course?

The basis of this course was first developed in 1993 and was the first of its kind in the safari industry. It is for those that are passionate about nature, who would like a more in-depth experience and understanding of it. The knowledge you gain on this course will take your safaris and bush holidays to the next level and give them a whole new meaning.

Ecology. Geology. Climate and Weather. Cultural and Medicinal uses of Plants. Animal Tracks and Tracking. Animal Behaviour. Bird Identification. Navigation Skills and Situational Awareness. Off-road and Sensitive 4×4 Driving Skills. Creating Photographic Opportunities. Correct Binocular Use.

Accommodation

The sleeping arrangements at all our camps consist of two people sharing per tent. Single requests are required to pay double-rates. Women and men do not share tents unless booked as a couple.

Meals

Early morning wake-up (tea, coffee, biscuits, fresh fruit and cereal), Brunch after activity (cooked breakfast and fruit salad), Afternoon tea (light lunch/ sandwiches), Dinner (balanced, warm plated meal with meat, vegetables and salad).

Certification and accreditation

At the end of this course, you will be awarded a certificate of participation. For those participating in the course at Lewa you will be awarded the KPSGA Bronze level qualification if several written tests, oral presentations and practical assessment are successfully completed.
