Amazing video footage of a hippo charging a speed boat. The footage was taken by safari tour operator Michael Varndell and posted to his Facebook page late Tuesday.

Varndell, Managing Director of Malawian Style Safari and Adventure Holiday shot the video in Kafue National Park in Zambia. The video starts off with just ripples in the water which chase the boat like a torpedo. The final view before the boat speeds off is the hippo launching itself out of the water.

This was not the hippo swimming, they can’t actually swim. What it was doing was running along the bottom of the river. It would have been propelling itself forward in the style of an astronaut on the moon and using its tail as a rudder.
