Too dark to walk out from camp straight away so our start was delayed to 05.30. However the walk was cut short due to heavy rain and we were back in camp by eight.
The rain and wind made the walk back really hard from a situational awareness point of view i.e. looking, smelling and listening for signs of the Big Five.
Before this trip to Africa I never really needed to know which way was north or south, with the exception of knowing home is in the north east.
But now on the reserve where there are no sign posts my sense of direction is all about the points of the compass, landmarks, stars, the moon and of course the sun.
The rest of the day was made up of revision and little else.
