There was definitely a feeling of coming home today to the familiar surroundings and sounds of Selati – I’ve really missed hearing the fiery necked nightjar and African scops owl through the night.
After having a week out of the bush it was fun to get back and see everyone. However, there wasn’t much time to catch up as we headed straight out on our tracking course with JP, Margaux and three external trackers – Robert, Innocent and Euce.
It is going to be a tough course with a harsh assessment at the end. If we get certain tracks or signs wrong we actually loose marks eg a level one track is worth only one point but if you get it wrong you lose three points.
