This week the trip got little bit closer, the South African High Commission awarded me temporary residence on a study permit. The visa says that I’m allowed to proceed on a one way ticket because they’ve logged a security deposit of £600.

The South Africa Government may allow me to proceed one way but I doubt that my Mum would. Anyhow, a single ticket isn’t an option, it costs £1,200 whereas a return is £880. My return date is too far out so I’m going to have to wait until the last couple of weeks before I book the flights.

In terms of dates, looking at flying out on 30th August and then back 11 months later on 30th July.
