A night off the reserve

What is it with Group A, they saw leopard again this morning, in fact they saw leopard mating.

Still we ticked off a new species, this time a spotted hyena which trotted through camp as we were having our pre-drive briefing.

No afternoon activities, instead we headed over to the bush bar, Mahlahlah for the rugby.

The bar is simply a game lodge in between Makalali and Karongwe that is open to the public every Saturday night. It acts like a magnet to the bush folk from miles and miles around. It’s good, not great but it’s the only thing.

Sending 18 students who’d been isolated in the bush for over a month to the bar was quite a crazy experiment.

There could have been a major thesis on animal behaviour written and its fair to say that there will be a lot of people feeling rough tomorrow and some a little silly. I will not be one of them which is both impressive and surprising.
